St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge

This 83,000 acre refuge spans parts of Wakulla, Jefferson, and Taylor counties in Florida. It is popular for birding, fishing, hiking, and other outdoor recreation. A flamingo once set up residence here following a major hurricane. It also has served as an off-site research area for the Plant Ecology lab. Check out the lighthouse that was originally built in 1831! Species to see: * merican alligator * Bald eagle * Manatee
